VE-WE-GE Empowering Rural India is very proud to adopt Kaumudi Vrudhashram Seva Trust, an old people’s home as one of our causes to support.

Video Summary of Kaumudi Vrudhashram

A very inspirational disabled woman, Kaumudi Shivlal Modha, turned tragedy into an opportunity for herself and other elderly people. In early 2023, they were thrown out of a vrudhashram (old people’s home) as they had no money to make space for wealthier old age people who could ‘donate’. Left out in the streets with no monetary resources, Kaumudiben, who moves about on her hands and knees or uses a trolley that she pushes. ‘I have no parents nor children. I was not worried for myself but the elderly, I was very much concerned about. What will happen to them? I knew that I had to do something. It’s been 10 months now. We started with no money. We did not know how we were going to survive the day, let alone the rest of our lives. We struggled for food, for clothes, for basic necessities. These elderly folks have toiled their whole lives for their younger generations, especially their children. Many have faced neglect, and physical, mental, and psychological abuse from the very same people they worked their whole lives for and provided everything for. Some elderly have been thrown out of their houses by their children.

Here, I will make sure that they will be respected, loved, and honored as all elderly deserve this. Yes, we still struggle financially. We are very happy that we have become the adopted cause for VE-WE-GE Empowering Rural India. Please buy their products as part of their profits come to us. If you buy their products, you get excellent quality handcrafted products made by people in the villages from natural materials. They get income from their efforts. And we get to sustain ourselves. To date, VE-WE-GE Empowering Rural India has supplied us with food, ceiling fans for every occupied room, set for guests, bathing equipment, soaps, shampoos, and mosquito repellents for each room. And they promise continuous support.’ Such was her determination that without any money and with a great disability, she made life meaningful and comfortable for many elderly. She gave them a roof over their heads. She gave them food. She gave them clothes. She gave them bathing facilities.
